Fusion Awarded Level 5 BBBEE Status
Tuesday, 21 December 2010 07:57

Fusion SA has, as a result of its recent BBBEE audit, progressed from Level 7 to the status of a Level 5 Contributor. This means that Fusion SA, a Cape town-based call centre outsourcing company, is now 80 percent compliant with BBBEE legislation. The audit was conducted by BEE Empowered, an independent verification agency.

It had been Fusion SA’s intention to reach Level 5 compliance by the end of 2011. The award-winning Business Process Outsourcer is now in the favourable position of being a year ahead of its BBBEE objectives.

Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment for call centres

The purpose of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment is to increase broad-based and effective participation of black people (defined as Africans, Coloureds and Indians who are citizens of South Africa) in the economy and promote a higher growth rate, increased employment, development and equitable income distribution.

The implementation of BBBEE is regulated by parliamentary legislation and its practices measured by a series of complex codes, beginning at Level 8, just 10 percent compliance, and progressing to Level 1, which is 135 percent compliant.

Fusion SA’s BBBEE compliance was measured in seven areas: ownership, management control, employment equity, skills development, preferential procurement, enterprise development, and socio-economic development.
